Abstract

In recent years, technological, economic, and cultural transformations have introduced ethical challenges into the education sector. The failure of teachers to fulfill professional responsibilities or exhibit biased behaviors has contributed to the increase of unethical practices within educational institutions. This situation negatively impacts teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders. The predominance of theoretical courses on ethics and moral values in teacher education programs may hinder the internalization of these values, leading to unethical behaviors among new teachers. This study aims to adapt the Pre-Service Teachers' Unethical Professional Behavior Tendencies Scale, developed by Wang et al. (2021) in China, into Turkish culture, identify pre-service teachers' unethical behavior tendencies before entering the profession, and raise awareness. The study was conducted with 377 pre-service teachers at Siirt University. Reliability analysis yielded Cronbach’s α = .749 and McDonald’s ω = .784. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) confirmed the scale's four-factor structure. Findings show the scale is valid and reliable for use in Turkey.

Özet

Son yıllarda yaşanan teknolojik, ekonomik ve kültürel değişimler, eğitim sektöründe etik sorunları da beraberinde getirmiştir. Öğretmenlerin mesleki sorumluluklarını yerine getirmemesi veya yanlı tutum sergilemesi, eğitim kurumlarında etik dışı davranışların yaygınlaşmasına yol açmaktadır. Bu durum, eğitim paydaşları üzerinde olumsuz etkiler yaratmakta olup, öğretmen adaylarının etik eğitimlerinin teorik ağırlıklı olması, değerlerin içselleştirilmesini zorlaştırarak mesleğe yeni başlayan öğretmenlerde etik dışı davranışlara neden olabilmektedir. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, Wang ve diğerleri (2021) tarafından Çin'de geliştirilen "Aday Öğretmenlerin Etik Olmayan Mesleki Davranış Eğilimleri Ölçeği"ni Türk kültürüne uyarlamak, aday öğretmenlerin mesleğe başlamadan önce etik dışı davranış eğilimlerini belirlemek ve farkındalık oluşturmaktır. Çalışma, Siirt Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 377 öğretmen adayı üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Güvenirlik analizinde ölçümlere ait iç tutarlık katsayıları Cronbach’s α=.749 ve McDonald’s omega ω= .784 olarak elde edilmiştir. Ölçeğin madde analizleri ve cinsiyete göre ölçme değişmezliği test edilmiş, orijinal formadaki dört faktörlü yapısı doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) ile doğrulanmıştır. Bulgular, 12 maddelik ölçeğin Türk kültürü açısından uygun olduğunu ve Türkiye'deki araştırmalarda kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.
