Abstract
In this study, the visual and architectural relationships between modern and historical clock towers in Türkiye were examined using three-dimensional (3D) modeling techniques based on images acquired by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). High-resolution UAV imagery was processed through photogrammetric software to generate 3D models, enabling comparative analyses of the structures’ form, material use, ornamentation, and design characteristics. The findings reveal that modern clock towers are inspired by their historical predecessors, yet they diverge notably under the influence of contemporary architectural approaches. The study provides a comprehensive assessment of UAV-based 3D modeling in cultural heritage documentation and offers an original contribution to understanding the continuity–transformation relationship in architectural design.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’deki modern ve tarihi saat kuleleri arasındaki görsel ve mimari ilişkiler, insansız hava araçları (İHA) ile elde edilen görüntüler kullanılarak üç boyutlu (3B) modelleme yöntemleriyle incelenmiştir. Yüksek çözünürlüklü İHA görüntüleri fotogrametrik yazılımlarda işlenerek 3B modellere dönüştürülmüş ve yapıların form, malzeme, süsleme ve tasarım özellikleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgular, modern saat kulelerinin tarihi öncüllerinden esinlendiğini ancak çağdaş mimari anlayışın etkisiyle belirgin biçimde farklılaştığını göstermektedir. Çalışma, kültürel miras belgelenmesinde İHA tabanlı 3B modellemenin kullanımına ilişkin bütüncül bir değerlendirme sunmakta ve mimari süreklilik–değişim ilişkisine dair özgün katkı sağlamaktadır.
