Abstract
This study aims to examine the texts in the 5th Grade Turkish Language Textbook (Book 1) from a values education perspective, in line with the value-based approach adopted by the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Program. Values education is a holistic process that strengthens not only students’ cognitive achievements but also their moral reasoning, affective awareness, and sense of social responsibility. The Turkish language course and its textbooks occupy a central position in this process, as they provide opportunities to interpret, discuss, and transform values into behavior through texts. In the study, the Erdem–Değer–Eylem (Virtue–Value–Action) Model developed by the Ministry of National Education was taken as the analytical framework. Within this framework, the texts were systematically analyzed based on the model’s structure, which links values not merely to knowledge but also to action. As the research method, document analysis—one of the qualitative research designs—was employed, and the texts were coded in accordance with the virtue, value, and action table published by the Ministry of National Education. The findings indicate that values such as love, patriotism, helpfulness, justice, and diligence are addressed in a visible manner, whereas some fundamental values—such as honesty, responsibility, patience, and tolerance—are represented in a limited or superficial way. In addition, it was found that the distribution of values across themes is unbalanced, didactic narration becomes prominent in certain texts, and the value–action connection weakens in some cases. In conclusion, it is recommended that the textbook be revised to achieve stronger alignment with the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Program, that high-quality texts enhancing value diversity be included, and that activities be redesigned to better support the transformation of values into behavior. Such an orientation would strengthen students’ internalization of values and contribute to the development of a repertoire of virtuous behaviors.

Bu çalışma, Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Programı’nın benimsediği değer temelli yaklaşım doğrultusunda 5. Sınıf Türkçe Ders Kitabı (1. Kitap) metinlerini değerler eğitimi perspektifinden incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Değerler eğitimi, öğrencilerin bilişsel kazanımlarının yanı sıra ahlaki muhakeme, duyuşsal farkındalık ve toplumsal sorumluluk boyutlarını güçlendiren bütüncül bir süreçtir. Türkçe dersi ve ders kitapları, metinler aracılığıyla değerleri anlamlandırma, tartışma ve davranışa dönüştürme fırsatı sunması bakımından bu sürecin merkezinde yer alır. Araştırmada Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı’nın Erdem–Değer–Eylem Modeli temel alınmış; modelin değerleri yalnızca bilgi alanında bırakmayıp eylemle ilişkilendiren yapısı çerçevesinde metinler sistematik biçimde çözümlenmiştir. Yöntem olarak nitel araştırma desenlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmış; metinler MEB’in yayımladığı erdem, değer ve eylem tablosu dikkate alınarak kodlanmıştır. Bulgular, sevgi, vatanseverlik, yardımseverlik, adalet ve çalışkanlık gibi değerlerin görünür biçimde işlendiğini; buna karşılık dürüstlük, sorumluluk, sabır ve hoşgörü gibi kimi temel değerlerin sınırlı veya yüzeysel temsil edildiğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca temalar arasında değer dağılımının dengesiz olduğu, bazı metinlerde didaktik anlatımın öne çıktığı, değer–eylem bağının ise yer yer zayıfladığı tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, kitabın Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Programı ile daha güçlü hizalanacak şekilde yeniden düzenlenmesi, değer çeşitliliğini artıracak nitelikli metinlerin eklenmesi ve etkinliklerin değerlerin davranışa dönüşümünü destekleyecek biçimde yeniden tasarlanması önerilmektedir. Bu yönelim, öğrencilerin değerleri içselleştirmesini ve erdemli davranış manzumelerini bir bütünlük içinde geliştirmesini güçlendirecektir.
