Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the level of knowledge of midwives who worked in the primary health care centre of Erzurum of apgar assessment. This research was a descriptive one completed between December 2004 and January 2005. Forty-two midwifes enrolled in this research. The data were collected using a questionnaire containing 20 questions. Descriptive statistical, Spearman correlation analysis and MannWhitneyU test were used to analyses the data. This result of this research revealed that midwifes did not know apgar assessment adequately. In addition, it has been found that educational level and in-service training also affected the participants’ mean score on the knowledge of Apgar score
Özet
Bu çalışma Erzurum merkez sağlık ocaklarında görev yapan ebelerin Apgar değerlendirmesi hakkındaki bilgi düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı tipte olan bu araştırma, Aralık 2004- Ocak 2005 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmaya 42 ebe katılmıştır. Veriler araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan ve 20 sorudan oluşan anket formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistik, Spearman korelasyon analizi ve MannWhitney-U testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, ebelerin puanlama kriterlerini yeterince bilmedikleri saptanmıştır. Eğitim seviyesinin ve hizmet içi eğitim alma durumunun bilgi puan ortalamasını etkilediği bulunmuştur
