Abstract
This study aims to prioritize occupational health and safety risks associated with CNC horizontal machining centers used in a medium-sized manufacturing enterprise and to evaluate preventive measures that can be implemented to reduce these risks. In this context, risk factors were identified by considering the relevant literature, field observations, and expert opinions together. Five major risk factors were defined as evaluation criteria, while five preventive measures were considered as decision alternatives. The DEMATEL method was used to reveal the causal relationships among the risk factors and to calculate their relative weights. The obtained criterion weights were then integrated into the ARAS method to rank the preventive measures according to their relative effectiveness. It was determined that the risk of injury during loading and unloading of workpiece was the most important risk factor according to the DEMATEL results. In addition, the risk of accidents caused by incorrect CNC programming emerged as the most influential factor affecting other risks. The ARAS results showed that training and information activities were the most effective preventive measure. The study demonstrates that DEMATEL and ARAS methods can be used in an integrated manner for the risk assessment of CNC machining centers, and it presents a systematic decision support approach regarding risk prioritization and preventive activity selection for enterprises.
