Abstract

This study aims to examine customer experiences in accommodation and food and beverage establishments operating in the district of Perşembe, Ordu Province, which holds the slow city designation, through a qualitative approach based on digital user-generated content. The research seeks to reveal how the slow city approach is perceived and experienced within tourism enterprises. The dataset of the study consists of a total of 480 user reviews related to 12 establishments listed on the TripAdvisor platform as of November 2025. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis with the assistance of the MAXQDA software. During the analysis process, customer experiences were examined within sensory and emotional dimensions and thematically categorized. The findings indicate that customer experiences are largely shaped by sensory and emotional themes. Elements such as local cuisine, architecture integrated with nature, aesthetic spaces, a peaceful atmosphere, and sincere service emerge as the most prominent positive aspects in user reviews. However, some reviews also highlight issues related to price–performance imbalance and inconsistencies in service quality. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that digital user-generated content constitutes an important data source for destination management and service quality improvement. The findings suggest that developing a service approach more closely aligned with slow city principles may contribute positively to customer satisfaction and the overall destination image of Perşembe.
