Abstract

E-Portfolio Research in Turkiye: A Systematic Review Sema İNCE Emine Ferda BEDEL Abstract This study aims to conduct a systematic analysis of academic articles and graduate theses on e-portfolios in the field of education in Turkey. A literature review conducted across the YÖK National Thesis Center, Dergipark, TR Dizin, ERIC, and SSCI databases identified a total of 24 studies, which were analyzed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flow diagram. The findings reveal that research on e-portfolios in Turkey has increased since 2019. In terms of publication type, the majority of studies were articles, while doctoral dissertations were found to be more limited in number. The most commonly used research method was the mixed-methods approach, whereas action research was the least preferred. It was observed that most studies focused on pre-service teachers, while research conducted at the primary school and early childhood education levels remained quite limited. Regarding e-portfolio systems, specially designed websites were the most widely used platforms, though various ready-made platforms were also preferred. The results indicate that e-portfolios contribute to students' academic achievement, self-regulation, and digital literacy while providing teachers with benefits in professional development, data storage, and assessment processes. However, the use of e-portfolios in education also presents challenges related to technological infrastructure, time management, and digital competency. By identifying trends in e-portfolio research in Turkey, this study highlights gaps in the literature and offers recommendations for future research. Keywords: educational technologies, e-portfolio, systematic review
