Abstract
The banking sector is increasingly evolving into a complex ecosystem through digital transformation and sustainable finance practices. The recently emerging concept of “Banking 6.0” refers to integrated models that center on technological innovations, data-driven services, artificial intelligence applications, and enhanced customer experiences. In this context, banks are not only managing financial transactions but are also developing new business models that strengthen customer relationships through digital platforms and incorporate sustainability criteria into their operational processes. Sustainable finance requires that financial decisions take into account Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, evaluating their societal and environmental impacts. The Turkish banking sector is closely following this global trend and aims to adapt to the Banking 6.0 ecosystem by developing various policies and strategies. This study aims to examine how the Banking 6.0 ecosystem in Turkey is shaped by sustainable finance practices and to identify the opportunities and challenges in practice, employing a qualitative document analysis and policy review approach from both theoretical and policy perspectives. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that the Turkish banking sector has completed the Banking 5.0 stage in terms of digital maturity, but demonstrates a 'hybrid' model in the transition to Banking 6.0, which requires an autonomous ecosystem and fully integrated ESG management.
