The Cendere Art Museum, located in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, is a contemporary art center that was brought into cultural use through the transformation of the former Cendere Pumping Station, an industrial heritage structure. Designed with an adaptive reuse approach that preserves the authentic character of industrial architecture, the museum seeks to offer an open and engaging experience for visitors of different ages and abilities through its exhibition areas, workshops, and event spaces. As a method, a survey study was conducted to analyze users’ opinions, and the data obtained from the survey were examined using descriptive analysis in order to reveal participants’ overall tendencies regarding the museum’s alignment with universal design principles.
Özet
Bu çalışma, müze mekânlarının erişilebilirliğini ve kapsayıcılığını değerlendirmek amacıyla evrensel tasarım ilkeleri çerçevesinde bir inceleme sunmaktadır. Cendere Sanat Müzesi, İstanbul’un Sarıyer ilçesinde, endüstri mirası niteliğindeki eski Cendere Pompa İstasyonu’nun dönüştürülmesiyle kültürel yaşama kazandırılmış çağdaş bir sanat merkezidir. Endüstriyel mimarinin özgün karakterini koruyarak yeniden işlevlendirme yaklaşımıyla tasarlanan müze, sergi alanları, atölye ve etkinlik mekânlarıyla farklı yaş ve yetenek gruplarından ziyaretçilere açık bir deneyim sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Yöntem olarak kullanıcıların görüşlerini analiz etmek amacıyla anket çalışmasının ardından anketten çıkan veriler betimsen analiz yöntemi sayesinde katılımcıların, mekanın evrensel tasarım anlayışıyla uyumu hakkındaki genel eğilimini ölçmeyi hedeflemiştir.
