Abstract

As compact urban models, university campus bring together users with different needs. As a determinant of quality of life on campuses, outdoor furniture should respond to the physical, cultural and demographic characteristics of users, as well as their technological, social and sustainability needs. Understanding the relationship between user needs and the characteristics of outdoor furniture is of great importance to improve the quality of the time users spend outdoors. Within the scope of this research, it is aimed to understand user needs within the framework of these concepts by evaluating the adequacy of outdoor furniture in Bingöl University Vocational Schools garden in terms of inclusiveness, sustainability and innovation. In this scope, survey and interview methods were used. As a result of the survey conducted to understand the adequacy of outdoor furniture in the garden, it was revealed that the concepts of inclusiveness, sustainability and innovation are interrelated. The relationship of the concepts showed that advances or regressions in one of them could affect the others. In the interviews, user needs were assessed and it was determined that the deficiencies identified in the survey were in line with user needs.
