Abstract
The critical role of high-speed tool steels in the cutting tool industry necessitates the precise control of chemical composition standards during the production phase. Traditionally, subjective evaluations based solely on arithmetic means can lead to erroneous decisions regarding production quality. This research aims to demonstrate the usability of the one-sample t-test in determining the compliance of chemical content in high-speed steels with the ASTM A 600 standard. The study used carbon, chromium, vanadium, and tungsten values from samples taken from seven different production periods at a manufacturing plant. Before analysis, the assumption of normal distribution of the data was verified using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and it was determined that the parametric test conditions were met. Subsequently, the minimum limits specified in the ASTM A 600 standard were entered into the system as test reference values, and a one-sample t-test was applied. The results showed that the average carbon value of 0.644% was statistically below the reference value (minimum 0.65%) (p=0.030 0.05), vanadium (0.830%; p=0.103>0.05), and tungsten (11.890%; p=0.030<0.05) were found to be within the standard reference ranges. The research results indicate that the one-sample t-test provides efficient and reliable results in determining the conformity of the chemical composition of high-speed steels to standards.
Özet
Yüksek hız takım çeliklerinin kesici takım endüstrisindeki kritik rolü, üretim aşamasında kimyasal bileşim standartlarının hatasız bir şekilde kontrol edilmesini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Geleneksel olarak sadece aritmetik ortalamalara dayalı yapılan subjektif değerlendirmeler, üretim kalitesinde hatalı kararlara yol açabilmektedir. Araştırma, bu doğrultuda yüksek hız çeliklerinde kimyasal içeriklerin ASTM’nin bildirdiği A 600 standardına göre uygunluğunun belirlenmesinde tek örnek t testinin kullanılabilirliğini göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada bir üretim tesisinden 7 farklı üretim periyotundan alınmış örneklere ait karbon, krom, vanadyum ve tungsten değerleri kullanılmıştır. Analiz öncesinde verilerin normal dağılım varsayımı Shapiro-Wilk testi ile doğrulanmış ve parametrik test koşullarının sağlandığı belirlenmiştir. Ardından, ASTM A 600 standardında belirtilen asgari limitler test referans değerleri olarak sisteme girilerek tek örnek t-testi uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda , %0,644’lük ortalama karbon değerinin referans değerin (minimum %0,65) istatistiksel olarak altında kaldığı (p=0,030 0,05), vanadyum (%0,830; p=0,103>0,05) ve tungsten (%11,890; p=0,030<0,05) elementlerine ait ortalama değerlerin ise standart referans aralıklarına uygun olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına bakıldığında yüksek hız çeliklerine ait kimyasal içeriklerin, standartlara uygunluklarının belirlenmesinde tek örnek t testinin verimli ve güvenilir sonuçlar verdiği görülmüştür.
