Abstract
Technological advancements, which influence every aspect of life today, are driving changes on a global scale. Just as in every other area of life, the use of technological tools is rapidly becoming widespread in the field of education. Teachers play a crucial role in the digital transformation taking place in education. Among the competencies sought in teachers in the 21st century is the ability to utilize technology and digital tools in teaching, learning, and assessment processes. In this context, this study aims to determine the digital teaching competency levels of prospective Religious Culture and Ethics teachers and the effect of the training they received on the use of Web 2.0 tools on their digital teaching competencies. In the study conducted with students from the Faculty of Theology at Karabük University, the experimental research model was employed among quantitative research methods. Using random sampling, the “Digital Teacher Competency Scale” pre-test administered to the experimental and control groups at the beginning of the study revealed that participants’ digital teacher competencies were at a good level. It was found that the training provided to the experimental group on the use of Web 2.0 tools—“Kahoot, Wordwall, Mindmup, and Mentimeter”—increased the average score on the digital teacher competency scale, and that the post-test average scores of the experimental and control groups differed significantly in favor of the experimental group. According to the results of the paired t-test for the experimental group, the difference between pre-test and post-test scores in the “resource development” sub-dimension is statistically significant. These findings demonstrate the benefits of training prospective Religious Culture and Ethics teachers in the use of Web tools to enhance their digital skills.
Özet
Günümüzde yaşamın her alanına etki eden teknolojik gelişmeler küresel ölçekte değişikliklere sebep olmaktadır. Deney grubuna Web 2.0 araçlarından “Kahoot, Wordwall, Mindmup, Mentimeter”in kullanımına yönelik verilen eğitimin dijital öğretmen yeterlilik ölçeğinden alınan puan ortalamasını artırdığı, deney grubu ve kontrol grubu son-test puan ortalamalarının deney grubu lehine anlamlı düzeyde farklılaştığı anlaşılmıştır.
