Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine how the motivation that drives participation in sports is shaped at a certain level. The research employed a survey method, and the study is descriptive and inferential. The study sample consisted of 257 individuals (88 men and 169 women) who participated in sports in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2023. The study was conducted on a voluntary basis. The Demographic Information Form and the Motivational Commitment Scale, developed by the researcher, were used to analyze the data. The data obtained were transferred to a computer environment using the SPSS 25.0 statistical package program and analyzed. Parametric tests were used in the analysis of the data; independent samples t-test was performed for pairwise group comparisons, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed for comparisons of more than two groups. Post Hoc Tukey multiple comparison tests were used to determine differences between groups. According to research success, no significant difference was found in motivational commitment levels based on gender, age, and father's education level variables; Significant differences were found based on mother's education level and income level variables. Furthermore, the total score on the Motivational Commitment Scale was 3.5, which is above average. Based on these findings, it was concluded that those who engage in fitness activities have a motivational commitment level above the average.
