Küresel iklim krizinin giderek artan etkilerini hafifletmek amacıyla her sene düzenlenen Taraflar Konferansı, bu sene Brezilya’da yapılmış ve ülkelerin iklim değişikliğiyle mücadelede yol haritası belirlemesi için önemli fırsatlar sunmuştur. Yoğun bir katılımla müzakerelerin yapıldığı konferans, iklim finansmanı konusu başta olmak üzere pek çok konuyu tartışmaya açmıştır. Fosil yakıtlardan aşamalı çıkış, az gelişmiş ülkelere mali destekler gibi birçok konuda konferansta beklenen sonuçlar elde edilememiştir. İklim uyumlu politikalar oluşturma konusu da bir başka göz ardı edilen konudur. Nitekim konferansta, mali ve mali olmayan politika araçlarının kullanımına ilişkin bir sonuca yer verilmemiş, bu konuda müzakereler ihmal edilmiştir.
