Abstract
This study analyses how power is represented in classical Turkish poetry through sound and music. The study is based on the culusiyye, ıydiyye, zafernâme, historical verses, and verses centered on the image of the ruler, selected from the divans written between the 15th and 18th centuries. The couplets were read with the order of the ceremony, the battle scene, and an understanding of time in mind, and the names of the instruments were evaluated in their context and meaning in the poem rather than being listed in an encyclopedic order. The analysis shows that tabl and kös announce the power that encompasses the world, nevbet brings order and continuity by repeating the judgment at certain times, and nefîr and surnân appear as a voice that announces and mobilizes the command in moments of campaign and victory. These findings demonstrate that in classical Turkish poetry, the voice serves as a fundamental ground of expression, reinforcing the legitimacy of Ottoman rule and consolidating political power within artistic discourse. The study offers a new opportunity for analysis by clarifying a voice-centered language of legitimacy in Ottoman poetry.
