Abstract

Status anxiety, linked to the desire for societal recognition, can drive motivation but also cause stress and competitiveness. This study aims to develop a scale to measure status anxiety among academics. To ensure content validity, 15 academics from various fields, including two psychologists, evaluated item clarity, relevance, and accuracy. Their feedback was analyzed using the Content Validity Rate and Index, confirming the scale's validity. The finalized 5-point Likert scale was administered online to 262 participants. The collected data underwent Explanatory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Reliability testing. Based on the results, the Status Anxiety Level Scale for Academicians (SASA) was developed, consisting of 12 items and 3 factors. This scale provides a reliable and valid tool for measuring the status anxiety levels of academics, contributing to research on professional anxiety and competitiveness in academic environments.
