Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine publications on carbon accounting using bibliometric analysis method. Grounded on this purpose, the conceptual framework of carbon accounting, the literature review, the research method used in the study and the findings obtained as a result of the analysis are explained. For the period between 2015-2025/01, 621 publications were accessed by searching the title with the keyword “carbon accounting” in the Web of Science database, and a data set was created by separating irrelevant studies and 494 articles were taken into consideration. The data set was visualized with the help of “VOSviewer” literature visualization program. According to the findings, it is seen that interest in carbon accounting has increased. It can be said that studies in this field focus more on environmental issues and less on financial and economic issues. According to the sustainable development goals, it was observed that the contribution to the social dimension was less. According to the keywords, studies have focused on technical issues and it has been observed that the focus has recently been on combating carbon emissions and the audit dimension. The studies are mostly concentrated in the People's Republic of China, the United States of America and Australia, respectively.
