Abstract

Making the knowledge and concepts, gained through 1-5 classes in mathematics, useful at problem designing-solving activities helps students to develop positive attitudes towards mathematics and also establish a student-centered teaching. The aim of this study is to determine the process at which basic opration skills are taught, at what level teachers use problem designing ang solving activities and to find out prospective teachers skills in the related topic. The teachers’ s were observed and prospective teachers’s skills were determined through a test developed by the researchers. Findings showed that the prospective teachers were not adequately acquired the skills required and also teachers were inadequate.
