Abstract

Besides economic effects of financial crises, effects over social variables that they cause are very important too. Through economic effects of financial crises such as economic shrinkage, decrease in the GDP per capita, increase in the rates of unemployment, increase in debts, increase in the number of business closures, decrease in business start-ups and lodgment of protested deeds; financial crises can also affect social variables of a country such as marriages, divorces and the suicides. The aim of the study is to examine firstly conceptual and theoretical framework of crisis concept, then to analyze the effects of international and domestic based financial crises in Turkish economy in and after 2000 over the incidents of marriages, divorces and suicides
