Abstract

Roses and rose-derived products are widely utilized as raw materials in economically important sectors such as cosmetics, perfumery, food, and healthcare. In Türkiye, the Rosa damascena Mill., which is predominantly cultivated in the Isparta region, constitutes a significant export commodity. In this study, the total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and total antioxidant activity of flowers and leaves of Isparta rose cultivated in the Ardıçlı and Gülköy regions of Isparta province were compared. The data obtained in the study were evaluated using one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA), and significant differences were compared using the LSD post-hoc test. The highest phenolic content was determined in rose leaves from the Gülköy location (1121.59 mg GAE/100 g), the highest flavonoid content in rose leaves from the Ardıçlı location (77.18 mg catechin/100 g), and the highest DPPH antioxidant activity in rose flowers from the Ardıçlı location (93.29%). In conclusion, the variations observed in phenolic compounds, flavonoid contents, and antioxidant capacity of Rosa damascena Mill. may be associated with ecological factors and cultivation conditions, indicating that regional differences play a decisive role in the biochemical quality parameters of rose products.
