Abstract

Mistletoe, whose distribution areas are widening in the world, is a semi-parasitic plant that lives by sucking the sap of the host plants it lives in, this harming its host. On the other hand, the mistletoe is important for animal nutrition and health with the secondary metabolites it contains. In this study, it was aimed to determine total flavonoid (TF) and phenolic contents TF), free radical scavenging activity (DPPH), and condensed tannin (CT) contents of mistletoe collected from wild pear and poplar trees in July, August, December, and January. According to the results of the study, TF, TP, DPPH and CT contents ranged between 8.383-10.739 mg GA/g, 12.770-15.107 mg QE/g, 57.56-73.19% and 0.882-1.086%, respectively. As a result, it was determined that the said compounds determined in the study differ according to the tree species and collection times of the mistletoe, and these results are thought to shed light on future studies.
