Abstract

This study aims to analyse the structure, development trends, and main research themes of the academic literature focusing on the economic dimension of biochar using bibliometric methods. Publications from 2009-2025, searched in the Web of Science (WoS) database using the keywords "biochar" and "economy," were visualized using VOSviewer software. The analysis included the creation of citation networks, co-authorship relationships, and keyword co-occurrence maps. The literature shows that the first study began in 2009, with an exponential increase in publication and citation numbers, particularly after 2020. The vast majority of studies consist of articles indexed in SCI-Expanded databases. The People's Republic of China and India are the leading countries in publication production. Thematic analyses indicate that biochar is concentrated in four main clusters: circular economy, energy production, waste management, and soil remediation. The biochar economy is transitioning from an interdisciplinary structure to a multidisciplinary stage of maturity. Future studies are expected to focus more on cost-benefit analyses based on field data.

Özet

Bu çalışma, biyoçarın ekonomik boyutuna odaklanan akademik literatürün yapısını, gelişim eğilimlerini ve temel araştırma temalarını bibliyometrik yöntemlerle analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanından "biochar" ve "economy" anahtar kelimeleriyle taranan 2009-2025 yılları arasındaki yayınlar, VOSviewer yazılımı kullanılarak görselleştirilmiştir.
