Abstract

This study aims to carry out the validity and reliability studies of the Turkish version of the m-TPACK-Q scale developed by Bauer (2013) to measure music teachers' techno-pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) competencies. In this context, 524 music teachers working in various provinces and educational institutions across Turkey were reached. The scale was categorized into six sub-dimensions: techno-pedagogical content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, music content knowledge, technological knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and the sixth dimension, technological content knowledge. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were conducted to reveal the construct validity of the scale adapted to Turkish under the name of the Musical Technopedagogical Content Knowledge (m-TPCK) scale. EFA and CFA analyses showed that the m-TPACK scale is a valid measurement tool and explains 75.94% of the total variance. The internal consistency coefficients calculated for each factor in the scale and range between 0.98 and 0.90 are essential results showing that the scale is reliable. In conclusion, the references in the literature and the findings obtained from the analyses provide evidence that the m-TPCK scale is a valid and reliable instrument.
