Abstract

This study aims to examine academic publications on rumination between 2014 and 2024 using the bibliometric analysis method. As a result of the search conducted in the Web of Science database, 3,148 publications indexed in SSCI and related to the field of psychology were included in the analysis. The VOSviewer software was used to analyze and visualize the data obtained according to inclusion criteria. Within the scope of the study, the annual distribution of publications, the most cited authors and publications, the most influential journals, author collaborations, co-citation networks, and keyword clustering were examined. The findings indicate that the rumination literature experienced a steady growth until 2021, after which it reached a certain level of saturation. It was determined that most of the influential publications are systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and the concepts most frequently studied in relation to rumination are depression, mindfulness, and anxiety. Additionally, the analyses provide significant insights into the dynamics of scientific collaboration in the field and the pioneering authors forming its theoretical foundation. In this context, the study aims to serve as a guiding resource for future research by mapping the developmental structure of rumination studies.
