Abstract

In recent years, in parallel with the rise in consumer expectations, there has been growing demand for fabrics with enhanced properties such as softness, heat retention, non-felting, and non-dripping performance. At this point, various luxury fibres that can increase the added value of the final product are considered promising alternatives. Nevertheless, research on the production of fabrics made entirely from such fibres and the evaluation of their physical and comfort properties remains rather limited. This research examines the colour characteristics, fastness, thermal comfort, and air and water vapour permeability of woven fabrics containing Suri Alpaca/Wool and Suri Alpaca/Wool/Polyamide blends, assessing how the inclusion of Suri alpaca affects overall fabric performance. Findings revealed that higher proportions of Suri alpaca reduced air permeability while improving thermal resistance, indicating that fabrics produced with Suri alpaca offer superior insulation, particularly advantageous for winter garments.
