Developments in the field of artificial intelligence have led to the emergence of new applications such as prompt engineering, transforming many processes in the journalism profession, from news production to content management. In this context, the study aims to examine the effects of artificial intelligence technologies on journalism, especially in the context of prompt engineering. In this context, how ChatGPT can be integrated into news writing processes and the performance of artificial intelligence in prompt applications were evaluated. The study was conducted on news listed at the top of the “Turkey”, “world”, “economy”, “magazine (entertainment)” and “sports” categories, selected from news sites on the Google News platform. Prompts created from the information in the selected news were presented to ChatGPT to generate AI-supported news, and the resulting outputs were compared with news written by human journalists and analyzed in terms of language and content. While the research results reveal that artificial intelligence can be an important tool in journalism when guided by the right prompts, they also show the necessity of human intervention. As a result, it has been determined that artificial intelligence and journalism collaboration can be more effective together with the human factor. This situation points to the importance of developing new skills in journalism and their integration with artificial intelligence along with the developments in communication technologies.

Yapay zekâ alanında yaşanan gelişmeler, prompt mühendisliği gibi yeni uygulamaların ortaya çıkmasına yol açarak gazetecilik mesleğinde haber üretiminden içerik yönetimine kadar pek çok sürecin dönüşmesine neden olmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma, yapay zekâ teknolojilerinin gazetecilik üzerindeki etkilerini, özellikle prompt mühendisliği bağlamında incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda, ChatGPT'nin haber yazım süreçlerine nasıl entegre edilebileceği ve yapay zekânın prompt uygulamalarındaki performansı değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma, Google News platformundaki haber sitelerinden seçilen, “Türkiye”, “dünya”, “ekonomi”, “magazin (eğlence)” ve “spor” kategorilerinde üst sıralarda listelenen haberler üzerinden yürütülmüştür. Seçilen haberlerdeki bilgilerden oluşturulan promptlar ChatGPT‘ye sunularak yapay zekâ destekli haberlerin üretilmesi sağlanmış ve ortaya çıkan veriler, insan gazeteciler tarafından yazılmış haberlerle karşılaştırılarak dil ve içerik bakımından analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, yapay zekânın doğru istemlerle yönlendirildiğinde gazetecilikte önemli bir araç olabileceğini ortaya koyarken, aynı zamanda insan müdahalesinin gerekliliğini de göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak, yapay zekânın ve gazetecilik iş birliğinin insan faktörüyle birlikte daha etkili olabileceği tespit edilmiştir. Bu durum, iletişim teknolojilerinde yaşanan gelişmelerle birlikte gazetecilikte yeni becerilerin geliştirilmesinin ve yapay zekâ ile entegrasyonunun önemine işaret etmektedir.
