Abstract

The role of teachers in educational systems is critically important for the academic and social development of students. However, in recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of teachers leaving the profession. This situation has become a problem that threatens the quality of education. This study aims to examine the regulations and improvements deemed necessary by teachers who have left the profession to return to teaching profession, based on their experiences. Designed as a phenomenological study, this research analyzes data obtained from semi-structured interviews with 22 teachers who left the profession, using content analysis. The experiences of the participants are organized around three main themes: a) regulations related to school and teaching/learning processes, b) improvements related to the profession, c) improvements in relationships and communication with stakeholders. The findings emphasize the critical role of considering teachers' experiences in shaping educational policies. This study highlights the necessity of multifaceted regulations within the education system to encourage qualified teachers who have left the profession to return and to support in-service teachers in remaining in the profession. The results provide suggestions to enhance teachers' job satisfaction and strengthen their professional commitment.
