Abstract

This study aimed to determine the correlation between certain carcass parameters of Chinese geese in two different rearing systems. The study was conducted at the Poultry Unit of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Cukurova University. The live weight, carcass weight, right thigh weight, left thigh weight, and breast weight of Chinese breed geese raised for 12 weeks in two different rearing systems (intensive, free-range) were measured. Pearson's moment correlation coefficient was used to analyze the relationship between these measurements. In addition, Fisher's Z transformation was used to compare the two correlation coefficients according to the breeding systems. A combined correlation was estimated when the two correlation coefficients were similar. As a result of the study, it was found that live weight and carcass weight were the most critical parameters in the intensive breeding system (r = 0.950), and carcass weight and breast weight were the most critical parameters in the free-range breeding system (r = 0.913).

Özet

Bu çalışma, iki farklı yetiştirme sistemindeki Çin kazlarının bazı karkas parametreleri arasındaki korelasyonu belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Çalışma Çukurova Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Zootekni Bölümü kanatlı ünitesinde yürütülmüştür. İki farklı yetiştirme sisteminde (entansif, serbest gezen) 12 hafta boyunca yetiştirilen Çin ırkı kazların canlı ağırlığı, karkas ağırlığı, sağ but ağırlığı, sol but ağırlığı ve göğüs ağırlığı ölçülmüştür.
