Abstract

In this research, it is aimed to reveal the development of the concept until today and the map of the studies within the framework of the studies on the concept of sociotelism. Within the framework of quantitative data in the research, it is aimed to present the current literature on sociotelism, which is one of the leading current issues within the framework of quantitative data, to present the concept to the research conductors in a systematic way by choosing the bibliometric analysis method, and to determine the research trends related to the concept of sociotelism and the deficiencies in the literature. In the research, the bibliometric data of the studies in different disciplines published between 2014-2024 in the Web of Science database were taken as a basis. When the publication years of 360 studies on sociotelism are examined, it is seen that there is the highest increase in 2022 (88 works) and 2023 (86 works). Regarding the types of publications, it was determined that the documents consisted of articles (318), studies in early view (20), papers (15), review articles (10), meeting abstracts (9), editorial content (3), corrections (2), letters (2) and book reviews (1). In terms of the distribution of research by country, it was found that the leading countries were China (127) and the USA (62), and that the leading publishers published works in English (348), Spanish (10) and Russian (3). When we look at the most frequently preferred keywords in the works related to sociotelism, it is seen that the phrases phubbing (183 repetitions), parental phubbing (46 repetitions) and smartphone (20 repetitions) come at the top.
