Abstract

The number of theoretical and methodological frameworks used to articulate how plants are represented in literary works needs to be higher. There are a few research techniques designed by ecocritics, albeit few. One such technique, the PhytoAnalysis Map, was prepared primarily to analyze children’s fiction, yet other studies also indicated its applicability to non-fiction texts. The Phyto-Analysis Map is visualized as a six-petaled flower with a stem and a root system, each including the steps to be taken during the analysis. The inherent relationship of the text with science, art, philosophy, literature, religion, global myths, and local traditions is also dealt with intertextually. In this study, we introduced the Phyto-Analysis Map as a technique/tool and used it to examine Antoine De Saint-Exupery’s work titled The Little Prince. We discussed the positive aspects of the technique and provided our readers with the limitations of using The Phyto-Analysis Map in the analysis of literary texts.
