Abstract

This research was conducted to examine individuals’ experiences of family counseling. The sample group consisted of a total of 12 adults. 6 of them were female and 6 were male. The ages of the individuals in the sample group ranged between 28 and 45. The education level of the participants was determined as middle school, high school and university. The phenomenological design, which is a qualitative research method, was preferred for the research method in order to collect in-depth information from the participants. The researcher obtained the approval of the ethics committee and the necessary permissions. After the necessary permissions were obtained, the data collection process was started. Data were collected by face-to-face interviews with the participants through semi-structured interview forms prepared by the researcher. The data of the research were analyzed with the content analysis method. The findings were grouped in different categories. These were determined as the category of family counseling definition, the category of the family counselor meeting expectations, the category of the family counselor’s personality traits, and the category of problems solved with the help of the family counselor. All the findings obtained were evaluated by the researcher in the conclusion section.

Özet

Bu araştırma bireylerin aile danışmanlığı deneyimlerini incelemek için gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örneklem grubu toplam 12 yetişkin bireyden oluşmaktadır. Bunların 6 tanesi kadın ve 6 tanesi erkektir. Örneklem grubunda yer alan bireylerin yaşları 28 ile 45 arasında değişmektedir. Katılımcıların eğitim düzeyi ortaokul, lise ve üniversite olarak tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma yöntemi için katılımcılardan derinlemesine bilgi toplamak amacı ile nitel araştırma yöntemi olan fenomenolojik desen tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma için etik kurul onayı ve gerekli izinler araştırmacı tarafından alınmıştır. Gerekli izinler alındıktan sonra veri toplama sürecine geçilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yüz yüze görüşmelerde araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları kullanılmıştır. Her katılımcı ile bir kere görüşme yapılmıştır. Görüşmeler 13 (en düşük) ile 36 (en yüksek) dakika arasında sürmüştür. Görüşme süreleri ortalama 25 dakika sürmüştür. Araştırmanın verileri içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular farklı kategorilerde gruplandırılmıştır. Bunlar aile danışmanlığı tanımı kategorisi, aile danışmanının beklentileri karşılama durumu kategorisi, aile danışmanının kişilik özellikleri kategorisi, aile danışmanı yardımı ile çözülen sorunlar kategorisi olarak tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen tüm bulgular araştırmacı tarafından sonuç bölümünde değerlendirilmiştir.
