Abstract
The basic characteristic of Western thought is that it is rational. Western thought has approached the universe, man and even God as a whole in a rational way and tried to understand and comprehend them through reason. This effort became the source of the abandonment of the mythological and the emergence of philosophy and scientific thought. Ancient Greek philosophy was founded on the assumption that the universe has order and therefore it is rational, and therefore, the human mind can know this rational structure. It is possible to encounter this idea explicitly or implicitly in almost all of the prominent Ancient Greek philosophers' thoughts. The concept of logos provides the idea that the rational universe can be known through the mind. The concept of logos has been associated with the concepts such as reason and measure. The concept of logos is central to both the order and the knowledge of the universe and a good human life. Thanks to logos, the universe was seen not as a chaos but as a cosmos, this order can be known through it and a similar order that of the universe can be established in human life as well. This study aims to demonstrate how the major Greek philosophers look at the rationality of the universe and human, how they establish the relationship between logos, order and cosmos, and to emphasize the importance of order and mind in the life of the universe, human and society.
