HERAKLEITOS’UN DOĞA ÜZERİNE KİTABIYLA İLGİLİ KAYNAKLAR VE YORUMLAR

Özet

Presokratik filozoflar da kitaplar yazmıştır, ancak ne yazık ki bu kitapların hiçbiri günümüze tam olarak ulaşmamıştır. Sonraki yazarların eserlerinde, doksografi ve ansiklopedi metinlerinde bu kitapların bazılarından yapılan alıntılara ve bu kitaplara ait olduğu düşünülen veciz sözlere rastlamaktayız. Bununla birlikte bazı eserler de bu kitapların adı, içeriği ve dolaşıma geçip geçmediğiyle ilgili bilgiler vermektedir. Bu çalışmada antik kaynaklarda Herakleitos’a atfedilen ve yaygın olarak Περὶ φύσεως (Doğa Üzerine) adıyla anılan eserle ilgili tartışmalara yer verilmektedir. Bu kapsamda Antikçağ ile Ortaçağ’a ait tüm kaynaklar taranmıştır. Bunlar arasında Diogenes Laertius, Platon, Aristoteles, Sextus Empiricus, Strabon, Stobaios, Simplicius gibi önemli yazarlar bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca gerek Herakleitos’u, gerekse ondan sonraki felsefe geleneğinde bıraktığı izleri inceleyen saygın modern kaynaklardaki yorumlar gözden geçirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Herakleitos’a atfedilen tek eserle ilgili dağınık haldeki tüm kaynakları ve yapılan tüm tartışmaları bir bütün halinde sunup ele almaktır. Konusu itibariyle bir ilk olan bu çalışma, batı felsefe geleneğini derinden etkilemiş olan Herakleitos’un ünlü deyişlerinin olası kaynağıyla ilgili bundan sonra yapılacak olan başka kapsamlı çalışmalara da katkı sunacaktır.

Abstract

Presocatic philosophers also wrote books, but unfortunately none of these books have survived to the present day. In the works of later writers, doxographical and encyclopedical texts, we see quotations made from some of these books and the apophthegms that are thought to belong to them. However, some works also provide information about the name, content and circulation of these books. In this study, the discussions about Περὶ φύσεως (On Nature), which are attributed to Herakleitos in ancient sources, are included. In this context, all sources of Ancient Age and Middle Age were scanned. Among them are important writers such as Diogenes Laertius, Plato, Aristotle, Sextus Empiricus, Strabo, Stobaeus, Simplicius. In addition, the comments in respect of the modern sources of Heraclitus, as well as the traces it left in its subsequent philosophy tradition, were reviewed. The main purpose of this study is to present all the scattered resources and all the discussions about the single work attributed to Herakleitos as a whole. This study, which is a first in its field, will contribute to other detailed studies which will be done about Herakleitos’ famous apophthegms, which have deeply influenced the Western philosophy tradition.
