Zenon’un düşüncelerinin tuttuğu yerin sınırları, hocası Parmenides’in ortaya koyduğu dizgeyle benzerlikleri ve farkları üzerinden açığa çıkarılacaktır.

Abstract

There are two types of progress of the thought in the history of philosophy. In the first, the thought embraces and maintains an aforementioned affirmation. This is the path of the ‘same’. In the second, there is a negation to either support or disprove the aforementioned affirmation. This is the path of the ‘difference’. The originality of Zeno in the history of philosophy lies in the fact that he is the discoverer of the second path which appeared with his negation method. The first aim of this article is to determine the boundaries of Zeno’s place in the history of philosophy. The boundaries of Zeno’s place will be uncovered through the similarities and differences between Zeno’s and his master Parmenides’s thoughts. The second aim of this article is to demonstrate how Zeno’s thoughts pose a challenge to the ontological system that Aristotle tried to develop. The final aim of this article is to explain how Aristotle adds ‘potentiality’ to the meaning repertoire of the notion of dynamis and evaluates the concept of ‘potentiality’ as a mode of being to eliminate the difficulty arising from Zeno’s position.
