Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to compare the science curriculums of Turkey and Poland in terms of contents and the aims and also it was aimed to compare teacher education systems. In this paper, the contents, learning fields, units and teaching hours of the curriculums have been examined. qualitative research technique has been used to examine the aims and the contents of the Turkey’s and Poland’s science education programs and teacher education systems. In comparison of general education in these countries, it has been found that Turkey is managed by the centralized education system, while Poland is managed by four part which are general, regional, school area and local parts. The unit contents of the science programs generally focus on nature and environment in Poland. In contrast to this, in Turkey, the basic science (physics, chemistry, biology) included in each unit has a place in each grade. Another important difference between the teacher training programs in Turkey and Poland is that; there are differences between the course duration and course contents of the science teacher candidates in undergraduate programs in both countries
