SAFETY EXPECTATIONS IN THE DESIGN OF SMARTPHONES SCALE (SEitDoSS) FOR PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS: A SCALE DEVELOPMENT STUDY

Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to develop a measurement tool to determine the safety expectations of pre-service teachers in the design of smartphones. For this purpose, mixed method was adopted and exploratory sequential design was used. A literature review and four focus group interviews were conducted. After examinations and a pilot implementation, a draft scale consisting of 44 propositions, arranged in a 5-point Likert type was created. Data collection practices were carried out with pre-service teachers at Eskişehir Osmangazi and Anadolu Universities. The draft scale was applied to 360 pre-service teachers as the 1st application, an exploratory factor analysis was performed on it. In the 2nd application, confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the data collected from 293 pre-service teachers, and The Safety Expectations Scale in the Design of Smartphones (SEitDoSS) consisting of five factors and 21 items was confirmed. The sub-dimensions of SEitDoSS are “user-specific expectations”, “device-specific expectations”, “integration expectations”, “health-specific expectations” and “support expectations”. The Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of the final version of the scale is .88 for the first application dataset and .85 for the second application dataset. It is thought that SEitDoSS can contribute to studies on the design and safety expectations of smartphones.

Bu çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının akıllı telefonların tasarımında güvenlik beklentilerini belirlemek için bir ölçme aracı geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ölçeğin geliştirilme sürecinde karma yöntem benimsenmiş, sıralı keşfedici desen kullanılmıştır. Bu süreçte alanyazın taraması yapılmış, dört adet odak grup görüşmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Alanyazın ve odak grup görüşmelerinden dayanak alınarak oluşturulan madde havuzunun dil ve kapsam geçerliğinin irdelenmesi ve pilot çalışmanın gerçekleştirilmesi sonrasında 44 önermeden oluşan 5’li likert tipinde düzenlenmiş taslak ölçek oluşturulmuştur. Veri toplama uygulamaları Eskişehir Osmangazi ve Anadolu Üniversitelerindeki öğretmen adaylarıyla yürütülmüştür. 1. uygulama ile 360 öğretmen adayına uygulanan taslak ölçek üzerinde açımlayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış, ölçeğin madde ve faktör yapısına ulaşılmıştır. 2. uygulamada 293 öğretmen adayından toplanan veri üzerinde doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış, beş faktör ve 21 maddeden oluşan Akıllı Telefonların Tasarımında Güvenlik Beklentileri Ölçeğine (ATTGBÖ) doğrulanmıştır. ATTGBÖ’nün alt boyutları “kullanıcıya özgü beklentiler”, “cihaza özgü beklentiler”, “entegrasyon beklentileri”, “sağlığa özgü beklentiler” ve “destek beklentileri” şeklindedir. Ölçeğin son haline ait Cronbach’s Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı 1. uygulama veri seti için .88, 2. uygulama veri seti için .85’tir. ATTGBÖ’nün akıllı telefonların tasarımı ve güvenlik beklentileriyle ilgili yapılacak çalışmalara katkı sunabileceği düşünülmektedir.
