Levels of Knowledge and Awareness Regarding the Use of Scoring Rubrics Among Turkish Language and Literature Teacher Candidates

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates levels of knowledge and awareness regarding the useof scoring rubrics among 40 Turkish language and literature teacher candidates enrolled inAnkara University’s Pedagogical Training Program. Study data was collected by analyzingteacher candidates’ responses to a researcher developed Information Form. Data was analyzedthrough descriptive analysis method. The findings concluded that a majority of these teachercandidates lacked knowledge regarding the types, shortcomings, and purposes of rubrics. Theteacher candidates learned about rubrics over a short time in only one course and as a resultare not sufficiently trained in preparing and applying rubrics.
