AWARENESS LEVELS OF EARLY CHILDREN'S PARENTS OF CHILD NEGLECT AND ABUSE

Abstract
Neglect and abuse towards children is a cosmic problem frequently encountered from past to present. Considering the need for the child to be under the protection of consistent and conscious adults, it will be important to determine parents' awareness of child neglect and abuse and the factors affecting this awareness. For this purpose, the demographic information form and the "Parents' Awareness Scale on Child Neglect and Abuse" developed by Ünal and Boz (2020) were applied to 150 parents living in Istanbul and having children between the ages of 0-6. The research is a descriptive study and was carried out with the screening model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that education level and income level have an effect on parents' awareness of child neglect and abuse.
Özet
Çocuklara yönelik ihmal ve istismar, geçmişten günümüze sıklıkla karşılaşılan kozmik bir sorundur. Çocuğun tutarlı ve bilinçli yetişkinlerin koruması altında olması gerekliliği düşünüldüğünde, ebeveynlerin çocuk ihmal ve istismarı üzerine farkındalıklarını ve bu farkındalıkları etkileyen unsurları belirlemek önemli olacaktır. Bu amaçla araştırmada İstanbul ilinde yaşayan ve 0-6 yaş aralığında çocuğu olan 150 ebeveyne, demografik bilgi formu ve Ünal ve Boz’un (2020) geliştirdiği “Ebeveynlerin Çocuk İhmal ve İstismarına İlişkin Farkındalık Ölçeği” uygulanmıştır. Araştırma betimsel bir çalışma olup nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda öğrenim durumu ve gelir düzeyinin ebeveynlerin çocuk ihmal ve istismarına yönelik farkındalıklarını etkilediği sonucuna varılmıştır.
