The conservation concepts of the Ottoman baths in Budin and Pecs city in Hungary

Abstract

In this study, the most famous baths built in Hungary during the Ottoman rule are explained. The main subject of the research is to investigate the Turkish baths known in the city of Peç in Hungary and to examine the history and conservation works of the Memi Pasha Bath, which has survived till today as a ruin. During the research, the Memi Paşa Bath was examined at the site and information was obtained from the Pecs city archive about the current conservation status. In addition, the informations given by the famous traveler Evliya Çelebi, constitutes an important part of the study.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı’nın Macaristan hakimiyeti süresince ülke genelinde yapılan en meşhur hamamlar anlatılmıştır. Araştırmanın ana konusu ise Macaristan’ın Peç şehrinde bilinen Türk hamamlarını araştırmak ve günümüze yalnıca harabe olarak ulaşabilmiş olan Memi Paşa Hamamı’nın taihini ve koruma çalışmalarının incelenmesidir. Araştırma süresince hamam yerinde incelenmiş, bugünkü koruma durumu hakkında Peç şehir arşivinden bilgiler alınmıştır. Ayrıca dönemin ünlü gezgini Evliya Çelebi Seyahatnamesinde verilen bilgiler çalışmanın önemli bir kısmını oluşturmaktadır
