Bu çalışmada sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının drama dersi öncesinde ve drama dersi sonrasında “drama” kavramına ilişkin algılarının metaforlar yoluyla incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinde 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılı Güz döneminde sınıf öğretmenliği bölümünde örgün öğretime devam etmekte olan üçüncü sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışma grubunun seçiminde, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda iki farklı sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan toplam 109 sınıf öğretmeni adayı üzerinde çalışma yapılmıştır. Durum çalışması desenindeki bu çalışmada, öğretmen adaylarından elde edilen metafor formları veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırmacılar tarafından (her hafta dört saat olmak üzere) toplamda 12 hafta boyunca iki farklı sınıfta işbirliği içerisinde Drama dersi yürütülmüştür. Bu kapsamda, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının drama dersi öncesinde ve sonrasında “drama” kavramına ilişkin algılarının çeşitlilik gösterebildiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının dramaya ilişkin bilgi ve beceri düzeylerinin artırılmasının gerekli olduğuna değinilmiş ve uygulamaya dayalı etkinliklerle dramanın önemine ve kullanımına ilişkin farkındalıklarının artırılması gerektiğine vurgu yapılmıştır.
