Social Studies Teacher Candidates Views on Historical Roman Use in Undergraduate Education

Abstract

The purpose of this research; The aim of this course is to determine the opinions of prospective social studies teacher candidates about the use of historical novels in undergraduate education. Qualitative research method and phenomenolical research design was used in the research. The study sample in the 2018-2019 academic year studying at a university in southwest Turkey in the Faculty of Education 50 4th grade, 30 in total, including 80 Social Studies Teacher Candidates 1st class is composed. The interview form was composed of four open-ended questions, which were prepared semi-structured. The data were analyzed according to the descriptive analysis of the qualitative data and the student opinions were grouped under various categories. In the research, it was concluded that prospective teacher candidates generally found the course work to be useful through historical novels.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı; Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmen Adaylarının lisans eğitiminde tarihsel roman kullanımına ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırmada olgubilim(fenomenoloji) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında Türkiye’nin güneybatısında bulunan bir üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 50’si 4. sınıf, 30’u 1. sınıf olmak üzere toplamda 80 Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmen Adayı oluşmaktadır. Öğrencilere yarı yapılandırılmış olarak hazırlanan, dört açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu uygulanmıştır. Veriler nitel veri analizlerden olan betimsel analize göre analiz edilmiş ve öğrenci görüşleri çeşitli kategoriler altında toplanmıştır. Araştırma da öğretmen adaylarının tarihsel romanlar vasıtasıyla ders işlenimini genel olarak faydalı buldukları ve olumlu yönde görüş bildirdikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
