Effect of Pencil Shape on Writing Speed of Primary School Students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of pencil shape on the writing speed of primary school students. In the research, trial model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. Within the scope of the research, data were collected from 419 students in primary schools in Yozgat city center in January and February 2019. It was determined that primary school students wrote 41 letters per minute with the hexagonal pencil, 47 letters per minute with the triangular pencil, and 49 letters with the round pencil. Bu araştırmanın amacı kalem şeklinin ilkokul öğrencilerinin yazma hızına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden deneme modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında Yozgat il merkezindeki ilkokullardaki 419 öğrenciden Ocak ve Şubat 2019’da veri toplanmıştır. Altıgen kalem ile ilkokul öğrencilerinin dakikada 41 harf, üçgen kalem ile dakikada 47 harf, yuvarlak kalem ile dakikada 49 harf yazdığı belirlenmiştir.
