Problems of School Management: Evaluations of School Principals’ Responses

Abstract

This research examined the opinions of school principals about the problems encountered in school management. The research was conducted with the participation of thirty-six school principals working in Istanbul Maltepe, Ümraniye and Kadıköy Districts in the 2019-2020 academic year. The research was conducted based on a qualitative research design and d case study research model. The study found that school principals have problems with the e ducation system, school administrator selection and appointment system, school administrators, physical conditions, and legislation in the administrative dimension. In the instructional dimension, there are problems with teachers, parents, curriculum, and students. In order to solve the problems encountered in school management, the study recommends the improvement of the selection and appointment system of the school administrator, development of the education system as a whole, training of school administrators, meeting the physical needs of schools and refraining from frequently changing school legislations.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı okul yönetiminde karşılaşılan sorunlara yönelik okul müdürlerinin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2019-2020 öğretim yılında İstanbul Maltepe, Ümraniye ve Kadıköy İlçelerinde görevli 36 okul müdürünün katılımı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma nitel araştırma deseni ve durum çalışması modeli esas alınarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre okul müdürleri yönetimsel boyutta eğitim sistemi, okul yöneticisi seçme ve atama sistemi, okul yöneticileri, fiziksel koşullar ve mevzuat ile ilgili sorunlar yaşamaktadır. Öğretimsel boyutta ise öğretmenler, veliler, müfredat ve öğrenciler ile ilgili sorunlar yaşanmaktadır. Okul yönetiminde karşılaşılan sorunların çözümüne yönelik olarak öncelikle okul yöneticisi seçme ve atama sisteminin iyileştirilmesi, eğitim sisteminin bir bütün olarak geliştirilmesi, okul yöneticilerinin yetiştirilmesi, okulların fiziksel ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması ve mevzuatın sürekli değiştirilmemesi önerilmektedir.
