Purpose: To report 3 patients with total optic nevre avulsion Material-Method: The findings of 3 patients with total optic nevre avulsion that were admitted to the trauma department of İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology between January 2000-June 2006 were evaluated retrospectively. Results: The initial visual acuity were no light perception in all patients. Fundoscopic examination revealed complete optic nerve avulsion. During follow-up period visual acuity did not improve in any patient. In one patient ftisis bulbi occured. Conclusion: Severe craniorbital traumas can cause optic nevre avulsion with the mechanism of sudden protrusion of the globe. In these cases, visual acuity do not improve and the prognosis is poor.
