Abstract

Progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS) is a connective tissue disease which might affect many organs, including the kidneys. The development of secondary amyloidosis due to PSS is quite rare. We present a patient who developed nephrotic syndrome 9 years after being diagnosed as PSS, and whose renal biopsy was compatible with secondary amyloidosis. He died due to massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding from esophageal telangiectasias
