An investigation of the relationship between the altruism levels, communication skills and problem solving skills of the elementary education and secondary education teachers

İlköğretim ve ortaöğretim öğretmenlerinin özgecilik düzeylerinin iletişim becerileri ve problem çözme becerileri ile olan ilişkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract

This study aimed to exhibit the relationship between the altruism levels,communication skills and problem solving skills of the elementary education andsecondary education teachers. The study population consisted of 725 teachers atSinop Provincial Center during 2015-2016- school year, and the sample consisted of452 teachers selected by simple random sampling method. This study was conductedbased on the relational screening model. As a result of the conducted research, therelationship coefficient between the altruism scores and problem solving skills of theelementary education teachers was found as .17 and it was seen that this relationshipwas in the same direction and insignificant (p=.05; n=132). Similarly, the relationshipcoefficient between the altruism levels and communication skills of the teachers at thefirst level of elementary education was found as .23 and it was seen that the saidrelationship was in the same direction and significant (p=.01; n=132). The relationshipcoefficient between the altruism scores and problem solving skills of the secondaryeducation teachers was found as -.15 and it was seen that this relationship was in theopposite direction and significant (p=.03; n=182). According to the acquired results,conducting similar studies to deal with the significance of the altruism behaviors ofteachers in education can be recommended.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim öğretmenlerinin özgecilik düzeylerinin, iletişim becerileri ve problem çözme becerileri ile ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmanın evrenini 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim döneminde Sinop il merkezindeki 725 öğretmen; örneklem ise basit tesadüfî örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 452 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma, ilişkisel tarama modelinde bir çalışmadır. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda, ilköğretimdeki öğretmenlerin özgecilik puanları ve problem çözme becerileri arasındaki ilişki katsayısı .17 olarak bulunmuş olup bu ilişkinin aynı yönde ve önemsiz olduğu görülmüştür (p=.05; n=132). Ortaöğretimdeki öğretmenlerin özgecilik puanları ve problem çözme becerileri arasındaki ilişki katsayısı -.15 olarak bulunmuş olup bu ilişkinin ters yönde ve önemli olduğu görülmüştür (p=.03; n=182). Benzer şekilde ortaöğretimdeki öğretmenlerin özgecilik düzeyleri ve iletişim becerileri arasındaki ilişki katsayısı .08 olarak bulunmuş olup söz konusu bu ilişkinin aynı yönde ve önemsiz olduğu görülmüştür (p=.25; n=182). Elde edilen bulgular ışığında eğitimde özgeci öğretmen davranışlarının önemine değinecek benzer çalışmalar önerilebilir.
