IMAM MATURIDI’S UNDERSTANDING OF THE NASH

Abstract

Abu Mansur al-Mâturîdî (d. 333/944) lived in the 3rd and 4th centuries, as the continuation of the Hanafi tradition, Khorasan-Maverâünnehir is a pioneer of the school of the Ahl-i Sunnah. Imam Mâturîdî is a scholar who has a broad knowledge in the fields of commentary, jurisprudence and kalam. He wrote many books in almost every one of these fields. However, only Kitâbu't-Tawhîd and Te'vîlâtu'l-Qurân reached to the present day. Of these works, Te'vîlâtu'l-Qur'an is significant in the field of commentary. Especially the day-to-day interpretation of tafsir conception is very important. At the same time, it is an essential book in terms of getting to know about Imam Maturîdî. In this study, we will try to reveal the approach of Imâm Mâtürîdî to the verses that point out the views that the author is related to the prose and in the literature since nash is one of the important and controversial issues of interpretation. The debate on this subject, which is closely related to the Qur'anic commentary, has been an ongoing issue since the early periods. It is crucial to know how this important subject is perceived and described by Imam Mâturîdî, to know the perception of that day, and to determine how we should perceive nash today. That Imam Maturîdî mentions to the nash in his book is clear but it isn’t clear what he meaned with nash. For this reason, we wil try to clarify the answer to this question in this study, to identify the understanding of nash of Imam Mâturîdî with the views of other commentators of that day and to form a view on nash.

Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî (ö. 333 / 944) 3-4. yüzyıllarda, Hanefî geleneğinindevamı olarak Horasan - Maverâünnehir coğrafyasında yaşamış, Ehl-i Sünnetinanç sisteminin önemli öncülerindendir. İmâm Mâtürîdî, kelâm ilmiyanında tefsir ve fıkıh alanlarında vukufiyet sahibi olup, bu sahaların hemenher birinde pek çok eser kaleme almıştır. Ancak bunlardan sadeceKitâbü’t-Tevhîd ve Teʼvîlâtü’l-Kur’ân günümüze ulaşmıştır. Te’vîlâtü’l-Kur’ân, tefsir alanında özellikle onun ve o gün benzer tefsir anlayışını günümüzetaşıması bakımından çok önemli olduğu gibi aynı zamanda İmâmMatürîdî’yi tanımak açısından da mühim bir eserdir. Bu araştırmamızda,İmâm Mâtürîdî’nin Te’vîlâtü’l-Kur’ân adlı eserinden hareketle, müellifin nesihleilgili olan ve literatürde neshin vaki olduğuna dair görüşlerin beyanedildiği ayetlere yaklaşımını ortaya koymaya çalışacağız. Çünkü nesih, tefsirilminin önemli ve tartışmalı konularından bir tanesidir. Kur’an tefsiriyle yakındanilişkilendirilen bu konu üzerindeki tartışmalar, ilk dönemlerden berisüregelen bir husustur. Bu önemli konunun İmâm Mâtürîdî tarafından neşekilde algılandığı ve tarif edildiği, o günün nesih algısını bilmek ve günümüzdeneshi nasıl algılamamız gerektiğini tespit etmek açısından oldukçaönemlidir. İmâm Matürîdî’nin, eserinde nesihten bahsettiği malumdur; ancakbundan kastedilenin ne olduğu sorusunun cevabı çok açık ve net değildir.Bu sebeple, bu çalışmamızda bu sorunun cevabını netleştirmeye, o günündiğer müfessirlerinin görüşleriyle birlikte İmâm Mâtürîdî’nin nesih anlayışınıbelirlemeye gayret edip, nesih hakkında bir kanaat ortaya koymayaçalışacağız.
