THE EFFECT OF TEACHINGLISTENING STRATEGIES TO LISTENING COMPREHENSIONSKILLS INNINTHGRADE STUDENTS

DOKUZUNCU SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE DİNLEME STRATEJİLERİ ÖĞRETİMİNİN DİNLEDİĞİNİ ANLAMA BECERİLERİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

In this study, ıt is aimed to investigate the effect of listening comprehension skills to teaching of listening strategies of ninth grade students. In this study, quasi-experimental methods was used in quantitative research methods with control group. The study was conducted on 55 students in ninth grade in Susurluk Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in Susurluk depending on Balıkesir province in 20152015 Academic year achievement tests of reliability and validity provided in the result of the pilot study prepared by researchers were used as data collection tool in the study. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS (20) package program. According to the results obtained in the study, when pretest and posttest results of students in the experimental group were compared, it was determined that there was a significant difference in favor of the post-test (p0,05). There were no statistically significant difference in listening strategies in tests that measure academic success according to gender (p>0,05). A significant correlation between pre- and post-test with the average of the grades received by students from the first exam was observed at the end of the study. The scores from pre-test and post-test taken by students with high GPA was also higher. According to the obtained results, it can be said that listening strategies can improve the student's listening comprehension abilities. It can also be said that when academic achievements of the students increase, listening comprehension level increases

Özet

Bu çalışmada, dokuzuncu sınıf öğrencilerine dinleme stratejileri öğretiminin öğrencilerin dinlediğini anlama becerilerine etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel yöntem kullanıldığı bu çalışma, 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılı, Balıkesir ili, Susurluk ilçesine bağlı Susurluk Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi dokuzuncu sınıfta okuyan 55 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanıp pilot uygulama sonucunda güvenirlik ve geçerliliği sağlanan başarı testleri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS (20) paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre, deney grubu öğrencilerinin ön-test ve son-test sonuçları karşılaştırıldığında son-test lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p0,05). Cinsiyete göre dinleme stratejileri öğretimini ölçen başarı testlerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir (p>0,05). Çalışma sonunda öğrencilerin ilk sınavlardan aldıkları notların ortalamaları ile ön ve son testleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki görülmüştür. Not ortalaması yüksek olan öğrencilerin ön ve son testten aldıkları puanlar da yüksek çıkmıştır. Çalışma sonunda elde edilen bulgulardan yola çıkarak dinleme stratejileri öğretiminin öğrencilerin dinlediğini anlama becerilerini geliştirdiği söylenebilir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin akademik başarıları arttıkça dinlediğini anlama düzeylerinin de arttığı söylenebilir
