EXAMINING THE EXPERIENCES OF MIGRANT STUDENTS LIVING IN BEYLİKDÜZÜ DISTRICT OF İSTANBUL

İSTANBUL İLİ BEYLİKDÜZÜ İLÇESİNDE YAŞAYAN GÖÇMEN ÖĞRENCİLERİN DENEYİMLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Children of immigrants are also affected by the problems they experience in the fields of health, security, employment and education. Educational level, economic situation, social and cultural differences of immigrant families make it difficult for immigrant children to adapt to educational environments. In this study, it is aimed to determine the perceptions of immigrant students studying in İstanbul Beylikduzu about their experiences in educational environments and the problems they face. Problems encountered after migration make immigrant children disadvantaged in their new country. Differences in language, family and culture of immigrant children can cause problems in their school and social life. Learning the feelings and thoughts of the children of families who have recently immigrated to Turkey about their education will contribute to the solution of their problems. The research was carried out with the descriptive survey method, one of the quantitative research methods. The sample of the study was determined by the maximum diversity sampling method. The item pool created by the researchers by examining the literature was presented to the expert opinion, and the draft questionnaire, which was created by making corrections in line with the feedback, was given its final form by pre-application. The measurement tool was applied to 185 immigrant students from 9 different countries studying at public schools in the Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul. As a result of the research, it has been determined that immigrant students use alternative methods to overcome the problems they encounter during the integration process, they have language learning and communication problems, they are sometimes excluded despite being accepted in educational environments and social life, and they cannot make friends..

Özet

Göçmen ailelerin eğitim düzeyi, ekonomik durumu, sosyal ve kültürel farklılıkları göçmen çocukların eğitim ortamlarına uyumunu güçleştirmektedir. Göç sonrası karşılaşılan sorunlar göçmen çocukları yeni ülkelerinde dezavantajlı hâle getirmektedir. Göçmen çocukların dil, aile, kültür gibi farklılıkları okul ve sosyal hayatlarında sorun yaşamalarına yol açabilmektedir. Bu araştırmada İstanbul ili Beylikdüzü ilçesinde öğrenim gören göçmen öğrencilerin eğitim ortamlarındaki deneyimlerine ve karşılaştıkları sorunlara ilişkin deneyimlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Göçmenlerin sağlık, güvenlik, iş bulma ve eğitim alanlarında yaşadıkları sorunlardan çocukları da etkilenebilmektedir. Son dönemde Türkiye’ye göç eden ailelerin çocuklarının eğitimleriyle ilgili duygu ve düşüncelerini öğrenmek, yaşadıkları sorunların çözümüne katkı sunacaktır. Araştırma, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel tarama yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesi yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Araştırmacılar tarafından alanyazın incelenerek oluşturulan madde havuzu uzman görüşüne sunulmuş, geri bildirimler doğrultusunda düzeltmeler yapılarak oluşturulan taslak anketin ön uygulaması yapılarak son şekli verilmiştir. Ölçme aracı İstanbul ili Beylikdüzü ilçesindeki devlet okullarında öğrenim gören 9 farklı ülke vatandaşı 185 göçmen öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda göçmen öğrencilerin uyum sürecinde karşılaştıkları sorunların giderilmesinde alternatif yöntemler kullandıkları, dil öğrenme ve iletişim sorunu yaşadıkları, eğitim ortamlarında ve sosyal yaşamda kabul görmelerine rağmen zaman zaman dışlandıkları, arkadaşlık kuramadıkları belirlenmiştir.
