A study to determine science and techbology teachers' basic knowledge about epistemological structure of scientific knowledge

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine science and technology teachers’ perceptionsand their views about nature of science. The case study approach was used in this research.The data were collected by using open-ended questionnaire. Sample consisted of 26 scienceand technology teachers. It was determined that science and technology teachers have lack ofrealistic approach about many features of nature of science. And study is concluded with thesuggestions; in service courses including nature of science should be organised for science andtechnology teachers and some practices should be shown in inservice courses

Bu çalışma fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin bilimin doğasını nasıl algıladıklarını vebilimin doğası hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada özel durummetodolojisi kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu anketten yararlanılmıştır.Çalışmanın örneklemini 26 fen ve teknoloji öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma sonucundaçalışmaya katılan öğretmenlerin çoğunun bilimin doğasının birçok özelliğinde gerçekçi bakışaçısına sahip olmadığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Hizmet içi eğitim (HİE) kursları ile öğretmenlerinbilimin doğasının içeriği konusunda bilgilendirilmesi ve HİE kurslarında bilimin doğasınınöğrenme ortamlarında nasıl etkili bir şekilde uygulanacağına dair örnek uygulamalara yerverilmesi gerektiği önerilmektedir
